Cosmic ray tests of a GEM-based TPC prototype operated in Ar-CF4-isobutane gas mixtures

Argon with an admixture of CF4 is expected to be a good candidate for the gas mixture to be used for a time projection chamber (TPC) in the future linear collider experiment because of its small transverse diffusion of drift electrons especially under a strong magnetic field. In order to confirm the superiority of this gas mixture over conventional TPC gases we carried out cosmic ray tests using a GEM-based TPC operated mostly in Ar-CF4-isobutane mixtures under 0 - 1 T axial magnetic fields. The measured gas properties such as gas gain and transverse diffusion constant as well as the observed spatial resolution are presented.Comment: 22 pages, 18 figures. Published in Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research A. Fig. 3 in the introduction was corrected since it had not been properly normalized. Minor corrections and no changes in the conclusio

K0(K0ˉ)K^0(\bar{K^0}) Production in Two-Photon Processes at TRISTAN

We have carried out an inclusive measurement of K0(K0ˉ)K^0(\bar{K^0}) production in two-photon processes at TRISTAN. The mean s\sqrt{s} was 58 GeV and the integrated luminosity was 199 pb1^{-1}. High-statistics KsK_s samples were obtained under such conditions as no-, anti-electron, and remnant-jet tags. The remnant-jet tag, in particular, allowed us, for the first time, to measure the cross sections separately for the resolved-photon and direct processes.Comment: 20 pages, Latex format, 4 figures and KEK-mark included. Table 1 revised. To be published in Phys. Lett.

Measurement of the cross-section and forward-backward charge asymmetry for the b and c-quark in e+e- annihilation with inclusive muons at sqrt(s) = 58 GeV

We have studied inclusive muon events using all the data collected by the TOPAZ detector at sqrt(s)=58 GeV with an integrated luminosity of 273pb-1. From 1328 inclusive muon events, we measured the ratio R_qq of the cross section for qq-bar production to the total hadronic cross section and forward-backward asymmetry A^q_FB for b and c quarks. The obtained results are R_bb = 0.13+-0.02(stat)+-0.01(syst), R_cc = 0.36+-0.05(stat)+-0.05(syst), A^b_FB = -0.20+-0.16(stat)+-0.01(syst) and A^c_FB = -0.17+-0.14(stat)+-0.02(syst), in fair agreement with a prediction of the standard model.Comment: To be published in EPJ C. 24 pages, 12 figure

Measurement of the forward-backward asymmetries for charm- and bottom-quark pair productions at <s><\sqrt{s}>=58GeV with electron tagging

We have measured, with electron tagging, the forward-backward asymmetries of charm- and bottom-quark pair productions at =58.01GeV, based on 23,783 hadronic events selected from a data sample of 197pb1^{-1} taken with the TOPAZ detector at TRISTAN. The measured forward-backward asymmetries are AFBc=0.49±0.20(stat.)±0.08(sys.)A_{FB}^c = -0.49 \pm 0.20(stat.) \pm 0.08 (sys.) and AFBb=0.64±0.35(stat.)±0.13(sys.)A_{FB}^b = -0.64 \pm 0.35(stat.) \pm 0.13 (sys.), which are consistent with the standard model predictions.Comment: 19 pages, Latex format (article), 5 figures included. to be published in Phys. Search for CP Violation in the Decays D0KS0P0D^0\rightarrow K^0_S P^0

We have searched for CP violation in the decays D0KS0P0D^0\rightarrow K^0_S P^0 where P0P^0 denotes a neutral pseudo-scalar meson which is either a π0\pi^0, η\eta, or η\eta' using KEKB asymmetric-energy e+ee^+e^- collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 791 fb1^{-1} collected with the Belle detector. No evidence of significant CP violation is observed. We report the most precise CP asymmetry measurement in the decay D0KS0π0D^0\rightarrow K^0_S\pi^0 to date: ACPD0KS0π0=(0.28±0.19±0.10)A_{CP}^{D^0\rightarrow K^0_S\pi^0}=(-0.28\pm0.19\pm0.10)%. We also report the first measurements of CP asymmetries in the decays D0KS0ηD^0\rightarrow K^0_S\eta and D0KS0ηD^0\rightarrow K^0_S\eta': ACPD0KS0η=(+0.54±0.51±0.16)A_{CP}^{D^0\rightarrow K^0_S\eta}=(+0.54\pm0.51\pm0.16)% and ACPD0KS0η=(+0.98±0.67±0.14)A_{CP}^{D^0\rightarrow K^0_S\eta'}=(+0.98\pm0.67\pm0.14)%, respectively

    Search for Bπ+B \to \pi \ell^+\ell^- Decays at Belle

We present a search for the B-> pi e^+ e^- and B-> pi \mu^+ \mu^- decays, with a data sample of 657 million BBbar pairs collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+ee^+e^- collider. Signal events are reconstructed from a charged or a neutral pion candidate and a pair of oppositely charged electrons or muons. No significant signal is observed and we set the upper limit on the isospin-averaged branching fraction BF(B -> \pi \ell^+\ell^-) < 6.2x10^-8 at the 90% confidence level.Comment: 8 pages, 3 figures, accepted by PRD(RC

    Search for CP violation in the decays D(s)+KS0π+D^+_{(s)} \to K_S^0\pi^+ and D(s)+KS0K+D^+_{(s)} \to K_S^0K^+

We have searched for CP violation in the charmed meson decays D(s)+KS0π+D^{+}_{(s)}\to K^0_S\pi^+ and D(s)+KS0K+D^{+}_{(s)}\to K^0_S K^+ using 673 fb1^{-1} of data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+ee^+e^- collider.
